Yet Another Snow....

Ho hum....winter continues to linger on. I guess this will make spring all the more wonderful when it finally arrives. I do love the change of season that we enjoy here in Iowa it's just these months of January and February that tend to get long and depressing. I'm trying to stay positive and peppy on the days that I work and staying motivated and relaxed on my days off. I know the time is soon approaching when days will be crazy and nights will be long with a new little person in our lives. And as much as I have a sense of nervousness and helplessness, a strong feeling of desire and longing to hold our little boy or girl is starting to take over. We had another Drs appointment yesterday for my glucose and anemia testing along with my regular check-up. Good news is I passed the glucose test no problem, (and I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was.) Maybe it's because I had a cola flavored drink that it honestly just tasted like drinking a coke, that and the fact that I have a sweet tooth:) Bad news is my iron count dropped again, resulting in me starting an iron supplement. But I consider this a small set back with the knowledge that everything with our baby is Great!! I am measuring perfectly and the heartbeat was at about 158, with a good variation which the doc says is a sign of a very healthy, active baby:) I've also been blessed with a pretty tolerable amount of back pain, swelling, leg cramps, etc. (So far anyway, I realize that I'm just beginning the most uncomfy stretch of pregnancy.)
I continue to stay encouraged and thankful for this time in my life. Our last few messages at church have been based out of 1 Peter and it's been such a great reminder every week to stay focused, keep fighting, and continuing to thank God for all things; the good and the bad. I am also EXTREMEMLY excited to have my best friend Meggan home from Greece for the next couple of months and it has already been a blessing to hear how God is using her, working in her life, and blessing her to overflowing! It will be so amazing to have her here with me during the last couple months of pregnancy and for the birth of my baby, as well as me getting to join her in the excitement of planning her wedding:-) God is so good to us!
One more quick bit of news in the Van Dyke household...........we're adding yet another member to the family this weekend, a puppy:) Yes, yes we know we are absolutely crazy but we are gluttons for punishment. We are both very excited, (I'm sure Otto is not) and at some point this weekend we will hopefully be making the journey to the Creston area to pick up our 7 week old German Shorthair pup. I will be sure to post pictures!
To you all-God Bless and be safe!
