Last week we were officially welcomed to "Water Street" as we woke up around 2:30 Wednesday morning to find we had no power. RJ proceeded to check out the sump pump situation (powered by electricity) and found 3-4 inches of water in the entire basement! Otto's food dishes had floated away, rugs were floating, and many other things filling with water. Thankfully, our basement is mostly unfinished, and the majority of the things we keep down in the basement are stored on shelves or in rubbermaid containers. We had a recliner, 2 old computers, all our luggage, and some power cords that may be ruined, but with all of the crazy flooding going on in Iowa, we consider our selves lucky. Thankfully the power came back on around 3:30 and the pump kicked right back into gear! It could have been much worse!! And by bedtime Wednesday night was almost dry.
In happier news; my little sister brightened my day that day coming over to hangout with some exciting news....she's engaged and getting married next spring!:) Emma gets to be a flower girl:):):) We are so happy for Danielle and Derek and pray that God continues to bless their relationship with happiness. Such a bittersweet time for us, as we are so aware that a huge part of our family will not be here to share this day with us:( Daddy, you are missed SO much!
